Banana Walnut Oats
Today I got a very special phone call from my ‘big sister’ saying finally she will be able to try out the food I have, but where are the recipes she demanded. So this post is dedicated to her and all the ladies who are leading hectic lives raising their kids, doing their full time jobs and running a household with aplomb. Who would love to sit down and have a nice breakfast but don’t find the time and yet would like a delicious fulfilling meal which gets them fueled up for the hectic day ahead. My most favorite breakfast dish- BANANA WALNUT OATS
Earlier this recipe used to be loaded with half and half (cream) and refined sugar but with minor changes this dish still is very delicious, satisfying and guilt free. People on the run can make it of porridge consistency and carry it in their travel mugs. This can be had warm or chilled.
As a nutritionist I also need to stress that this breakfast is very heart friendly and weight loss friendly!!
- ½ cup rolled oats/ instant oats
- ¾ cup water (adjust the water according to the consistency you desire)
- ¼ cup unsweetened soy milk/ almond milk
- 1 banana chopped
- 2-3 tbsp chopped walnuts
- 2-3 tbsp raisins/ chopped dates
- ¼ tsp vanilla essence
- Drizzle of honey/ maple syrup (optional)
- Cook the oats with the water on the stove top (5-7 mins) or in the microwave (2-3mins on high)
Add the rest of the ingredients and Enjoy!!
